Tarik Khatib

Tarik began his law enforcement career in 1992 with the Lawrence Police Department.  Throughout his 25-year career, he had the privilege of serving in many roles within the department.  He retired in 2017 after seven years as the Police Chief.

In 2019, Tarik joined the Public Management Center (PMC) at the University of Kansas where he served as the Law Enforcement Leadership Academy (LELA) Program Director from 2019 – 2023.  In addition to managing and developing the LELA programs, Tarik instructed in and facilitated a wide range of law enforcement leadership and management courses.

Tarik holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session #240
